11/08/2013- Foxnetwork, a Russian website which has been growing in popularity among technology-savvy audiences in Russia, has just finished testing Thecus's new 4-bay NAS, the N4520. The editors started their detailed review with the description of the hardware: “Under the heatsink you will find a 1.2 GHz Intel Atom CE5315 Dual Core processor. The functions of the operation system are performed by 4 DDR3 SK Hynix H5TQ4G63MFR 512 MB modules, so the available memory amounts to 2 GB.  The USB 3.0 port located on the front panel works thanks to the Etron Technology EJ168A module.”

As for the software, Foxnetwork paid special attention to the new client utility, Intelligent NAS. “When first installing the NAS you can use Thecus Intelligent NAS, which not only lets you discover devices on the network but also makes for easy initial configuration and later full management of the model.”

At the end of the article, Foxnetwork wrote the following summary: “The Thecus N4520 NAS we have just tested demonstrated good data transfer speeds and in general made a very good impression. This NAS with 4 disks is designed for the SOHO segment. Here you won't find a second network interface and the capabilities of corporate network storage devices, but all this is not actually required for home and small office networks.”

The advantages of the N4520 as listed by Foxnetwork:

  • Good transfer speeds for IPv4 and IPv6
  • HDMI port
  • Antivirus software
  • IPv6 support
  • Affordable price
  • Windows domains support
  • Monitoring of remote UPS
