01/30/2013 – For the end of 2012, the German media Hardwareluxx organized a lottery for its forum users. Participants were given the chance to win a Thecus® N4800 in exchange of a complete review. Hardwareluxx forum community is one of the most popular in Germany with over 172,000 users and close to a million topics on everything IT related.
Our congratulations goes to Laurin who was choosen by the Hardwareluxx. After spending a few weeks with the unit, her comments and impression in regards of the 4-bay NAS from the Vision series were posted on the Hardwareluxx forum. “The Thecus N4800 NAS is my first and I for my part I am very happy with the device. It is very simple and with little prior knowledge can put the device into operation and create a first raid array.”
The N4800, equipped with an Intel® Atom™ processor and 2GB of DDR3 RAM, is a real beast when it comes to performances. Using the benchmark program Intel NASPT, Laurin was able to achieve impressive transfer rates in file copy to the NAS in RAID 5with 125.1 MB/s! But performances were only one aspect of the review. The user explained in detail the many modules available on Thecus' website and the official forum that can be used to expand the user's possibilities.
As pointed by Laurain here are the positives aspects of the N4800.
Expandable software with side modules and plenty of computing power
