01/05/2016 - c't magazine of the media group Heise belongs to the biggest and most important IT media in Germany. In their newest edition c't 01/16, the experts take a closer look at the new N7770-10G.

“With 7 bays the Thecus NAS N7770-10G is provides more than enough space for data. When fully equipped with 8TB hard drives and storage in RAID 5, 48 terabytes of data can be stored on a business network. At the core, Thecus is using an Intel Dual Core processor i3/2120 (3.3 GHz) from the Sandy Bridge generation. The 10-GBase-T-interface

“Having a look at the software, the N7770-10G provides everything that you can expect from a network storage device. A nice new feature with ThecusOS 5.12 is a VPN server for L2TP/IPsec. Like most modern NAS, it is possible to install functions via apps from the Thecus App Center, including the latest version of Kodi which works great as a media center.

“When looking at the idle performance figures this NAS delivers good performance. The processor has enough power to receive 1 Gigabyte size data via 10 GE port at 526 MByte/sec and save it (Windows share, RAID5-Array out of three SSDs, default file system ext4). When reading, we measured 485 MByte/s.”

Thank you very much Ernst Ahlers and the team from c't magazine.
